Highlights of the evening include work by featured artist Maxey Andress, salsa dancing demonstrations, tapas bars, beer and sangria, a DJ and a mariachi band for music and dancing, and a silent auction featuring works of local artists. Tickets are $50/person. Proceeds benefit the Young at Art scholarship fund.
Young at Art Young at Art is a society of adults interested in art: viewing it, creating it, collecting it, and critiquing it.

YAA seeks to bring artists of regional renown to exhibit in Fairhope. We’re looking for new genres, new techniques, and artists newly discovered elsewhere. YAA aspires to assist promising artists in our local high schools in hopes of propelling their art career. Each year, Young at Art raises scholarship funds for one local student seeking a career in the visual arts. Please join us for the gala event planned for July 26 at the Eastern Shore Art Center.
Maxey Andress
Maxey Andress lives in Atlanta. Raised in Satsuma, Alabama and a graduate of Auburn University, his work has been shown across the southeast: Nashville, Chattanooga, Atlanta and Miami. He recently was named "best emerging artist' in Creative Loafing, the Atlanta arts, entertainment and culture newspaper.
His work explores the world of juxtapositions and our ever-evolving consciousness. The 3-D constructions / paintings evoke the spirit of "origami" - folding, geometric forms which give the work voice, velocity and urgency. The multi-panel approach helps communicate separateness. It also accentuates the need to draw things together and compare them. Panels fold and unfold in disparate colors, textures, techniques, emotions and subjects, revealing both their dependence and interdependency.
