Kids Art BASH Class Descriptions – June 3 thru July 19, No class the week of July 1, 2013. Parent to provide daily snack.
Ages 4 – 5
Adventures with Dr. Suess with Bethany Reid. The children will enjoy painting, cutting and gluing to design art projects. We will feature one of Dr. Suess’ books daily in this one week session. $75, $70 Family Membership.
Art and Music with Bethany Reid. Come join us to create art projects featuring basic colors, shapes and textures. Music and movement will accompany this session. $75, $70 Family Membership.
Under the Big Top with Bethany Reid. Come visit the magic of creating art projects featuring circus animal and performers. The children will make mobiles and shadow boxes. $75, $70 Family Membership.
Oh Where Is My Paintbrush?? With Hannah Scarborough. That’s right! Come and join the fun of creating art without touching a paintbrush!! We will be using everyday objects with paint to create colorful and beautiful prints.
Color Me Happy! With Hannah Scarborough. The children will learn all about the different colors of the rainbow while making art! We will be using different materials everyday that allow the children to make beautiful art with lots of colors!
Take me to the ZOO! With Hannah Scarborough. The children will create a zoo of animals in this class using basic shapes, thumbprints, handprints and more! We will use mixed media to add fun details to our animals, and at the end of this roaring fun class, the children will have a whole zoo of animals to take home!
Ages 6 – 8
Swamp Critters! With Yevette Ward. Alligators, frogs & dragonflies! We will make two dimensional and three dimensional swamp critters using paper mache techniques and more. Children will learn drawing, sculpting and measuring skills in 2D and 3D. $75, $70 Family Membership.
Under the Sea with Charlotte Green. One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish. Let’s create marine life of the Eastern Shore! We will draw, paint and collage crabs, jellyfish, sea shells and fish as we paint underwater ocean scenes. $75, $70 Family Membership.
Mixed Media and More! With Charlotte Green We will start with painting and incorporate other materials to produce interesting new results. Acrylic paints and watercolor will be our mediums to which we will add pencils, pen & ink for our drawings. Projects will include paintings, drawings and a really cool self-portrait inspired by Andy Warhol and much more! $75, $70 Family Membership.
Kids Pottery with Maria Spies, Karen Clements and Janet Graham. Discover the fun and science of clay. Every child will spend their class time working with clay and glazes. They will learn the many shapes and forms clay can take. Coiling, slab construction and use of the pottery wheel will be used in this class. Two week class, $145, $140 Family Members.
Let’s Draw and Paint! With Karin Marrero. Become a shape detective and a color mixologist this summer… We will use those simple shapes to draw and then delve into color mixing to create a painting a day! Build your skills as you learn about the different styles and materials used in a creative studio setting. $75, $70 Family Membership.
Laurel Burch’s Mystical Magical Cats! With Frances Fontaine. We will look at Laurel’s vivid and vibrantly colored cats, horses, butterflies, birds and blossoms for inspiration. The fun begins with painting, oil pastels, cutting and pasting our whimsical cats onto paper. Come create the Coolest Cats in Fairhope! $75, $70 Family Membership.
Painted Wood Plaque with Frances Fontaine. Fanciful Fish, Hooty Hoot Owlie, Crazy Fun Cat or Yummy Tummy Ice Cream Cones are your choices for your wooden plaque. Learn to sand, prime and paint on wood as you create your engaging and fun Hooty, Fish, Kitty or Yummy! Come join us for summer, woodworking FUN! $75, $70 Family Membership.
KIDZ Art with Charlotte Green. Children will learn to draw using various materials - pencils, markers and oil pastels! Next we will add acrylic paints to our mix and paint fun and funky creatures and flowers. $75, $70 Family Membership. Week of June 17th, class is full!
Ages 9 – 13
REPOUSSE! With Frances Fontaine. We will use a flat piece of metal to push out a design working on the front and back to end up with a low relief. After finishing the design we will stain the piece with black ink, “polish” it so that it shines, leaving the ink in the crevices to make the silver part “pop”! Children will choose from butterflies, ladybugs and other various insects for their design. It is a beautiful, silver colored metal with raised design when finished. So much fun to do! $75, $70 Family Membership.
Drawing with Color with Michele Traum. Do you love to draw? Do you love color? Express yourself with oil pastels! Young artists blossom with creamy, smooth color that they can smear, blend, dot, over-lap and mix. They can learn how to hold a stick to achieve different strokes – either as a pencil, clenched in a fist or on its side. Creativity and interest are enhanced with materials that encourage exploration and expression. Let the fun and creativity begin! $75, $70 Family Membership.
Digital Photography with Stephen Savage. Photography is fun! We will learn how digital cameras work and how to copy photos to the computer while we make photographic collages; have a scavenger hunt and more. Bring your camera, curiosity and sense of humor. $75, $70 Family Membership.

So Easy a Cave Man Could Do It! with Ron Thomson At the dawn of time, people created art from beautiful colors they found in nature. We will do the same! Local clay and charcoal will be the tools for our creations on a variety of materials. $75, $70 Family Membership.
EXTRA-ordinary! With Ron Thomson. Learn how to use every sense to create art. We can use what is all around us to create bridges and gates to new worlds. Set your compass to be an explorer of the world and never be bored again! $75, $70 Family Membership.
“Stealing” from the Masters! with Ron Thomson. What if we borrowed secrets from the greatest masters of art and created something completely new. This will be a week of playing with the ideas of the great artists and bringing them together in unexpected ways! $75, $70 Family Membership.

Futuristic Cityscape with Frances Fontaine. Your imagination and creativity will determine the future! We will study a little architecture and look at wild and crazy cities of the future and then design, color and paint out our ideas. When pigs fly, oh yes, we will zip along in rainbow colored tubular forms with jet powered snacks! The future is all yours! $75, $70 Family Membership.
Stand Your Ground! With Hannah Scarborough. The children will learn how to create foreground and background with acrylic paint using color, line, shapes and texture! Soon their art will become 3D! This is a wonderful class in which the kids will learn to paint in acrylics and produce bright colorful art for display at home.
Ages 13 – 15
Digital Photography with Stephen Savage. This class is geared towards students who have some experience with photography. We will review some of your photos and work on focus, subject and clarity to produce better photographs. Bring your camera, photos you have previously taken and a willingness to learn. $75, $70 Family Membership.
