Inventing van Gogh
A collaboration between Theatre 98 & Easter Shore Art Center
May 3
On May 9, the play “Inventing van Gogh” by Steven Dietz, opens at Theatre 98. Directed by Timothy Guy, it bounces between van Gogh’s final years and the life of a young contemporary artist who has been blackmailed into forging a “lost” van Gogh self-portrait.
Academy Director, Melinda Hicks has organized 12 artist volunteers to make replicas of van Gogh’s well-known works, such as “Sunflowers”, “Iris”, and “Starry Night” to be exhibited on stage during the play.
A silent auction will be held May 9-19, where audience members may purchase the paintings. Proceeds from the benefit will go to Theatre 98.
